The Power of Your Inner Voice

Have you ever had a truly awful boss?

The kind who belittles you, makes you feel useless, snaps over the smallest things, and never seems satisfied? Over time, the relentless negativity grinds you down. There’s a well-known saying in HR: people don’t leave jobs, they leave managers. It couldn’t be more accurate.

In my years working in HR and now as a hypnotherapist, I’ve seen this pattern time and again. A person’s confidence is chipped away so persistently that even leaving feels impossible.

Now think: have you ever been in a toxic relationship?

Perhaps with someone narcissistic—always playing the victim, gaslighting, manipulating, shifting blame until you begin to believe it is you. You tiptoe around their moods, anticipating the jealousy, the outbursts, the bullying. You may have even watched a friend in this kind of dynamic and wondered why they stayed. The answer is the same: their confidence has been slowly eroded. Their self-belief diminished. They no longer recognise their own worth.

So here’s the honest question—how do you talk to yourself?

Do you berate yourself like that cruel boss? Do you tear yourself apart over a small mistake, replaying what others might have thought—like the voice of that manipulative partner? Sound familiar? We are often far harsher with ourselves than we would ever dream of being to our children, our friends, or even strangers. But this matters—because just as a toxic manager or partner can destroy your confidence, so can your* own inner voice.* Think of it this way: your inner voice is like your own personal hypnotist. And your subconscious is always listening.

Inner voice

So, starting today, set yourself one simple but powerful goal: Say at least one kind thing to yourself every day. “I love your hair.” “You handled that so well.” “You’re a thoughtful person.” “Well done for getting that done.”

Talk to yourself like someone you care about. Like someone you love. Because truthfully—aren’t you worthy of that love too?

Isn’t it time you learned to love yourself?

Common Therapies

I’m often asked what can hypnotherapy be used to treat and it’s such a difficult question to answer because the answer is just about anything where the subconscious is involved. Sometimes whatever that is doesn’t have an obvious connection to the subconscious so if you’re wondering if hypnotherapy can help you, the answer is most likely yes!

I’ve given a little more detail on some of the more common things I work with, however this is not an exhaustive list by any means. Feel free to contact me to find out how hypnotherapy can help you.
